OSSA Course Conversion


ESC is working with industry to develop standardized courses that will replace Oil Sands Safety Association (OSSA) courses. The release of some OSSA classroom courses was delayed due to COVID-19, progress to release these courses has since resumed.

Fall Protection

Available since September 3, 2019
This course replaces all OSSA approved Fall Protection Courses.

Delivery Method/Duration: Classroom/1-day
Availability:  Authorized Training Providers
Certification: 3-years 

Confined Space Entry and Monitor  | Online

Available since November 28, 2019
This course replaces all OSSA approved Confined Space Entry and Monitor Courses.

Delivery Method/Duration: Online/~ 2 to 3 hrs
Availability: ESC Confined Space Entry 
Certification: 3-years 

Confined Space Entry and Monitor | Classroom

To be released mid to late Q3 2020
Classroom equivalent of the  online course. This course replaces all OSSA approved Confined Space Courses.

Delivery Method/Duration: Classroom/1-day
Availability: ATPs offering OSSA-accredited Confined Space.
Certification: 3-years 

Mobile Elevating Work Platforms 

In Progress
This course will replace all currently approved OSSA Elevated Work Platform courses.

Delivery Method/Duration: Classroom/1-day
Availability: ATPs offering OSSA-accredited EWP
Certification: 3-years 

Fire Watch

Launching July 2020
This course will replace all currently approved OSSA Fire Watch courses.

Note: OSSA training certificates continue to be valid until they expire.

Validating Energy Safety Canada Certificates

ESC certificates represent a high standard for training quality. To ensure workers have authentic ESC certification, employers are encouraged verify training certificates using the
online validation tool.
