Certified Health and Safety Auditor Program


This course instructs experienced health and safety professionals with management or supervisory backgrounds on the essential principles and procedures for conducting Safety Management System (SMS) audits.

The curriculum provides a detailed review of the Certificate of Recognition (COR) program and focuses on the roles, responsibilities, and ethical standards (Energy Safety Canada’s Auditor Code of Ethics) governing the audit process. Participants will learn the ten steps of auditing and receive an in-depth review of Energy Safety Canada’s COR audit protocol and Audit Instrument.

  • Upon successful completion of this course, auditors must submit a health and safety qualification audit within 6 months of course completion date

Prerequisites

  • To register for the Certified Health and Safety Auditor Program, participants must complete application to become either an Internal or External Energy Safety Canada Auditor, see explanation Certified Health and Safety Auditor Application Process. Once Energy Safety Canada approves your application, you will be notified with information on registering for the course
  • Completion of Energy Safety Canada’s Safety Program Development course or fulfillment of the education requirements of an External Auditor candidate

Requirements

  • Students require a laptop with the ability to upload and run software. The use of USB thumb drive and administrative rights are also required
  • Government-issued photo ID
  • Students must be adequately prepared to participate in English for required course elements
