Red Deer RCMP investigating counterfeit safety certificate operations

November 4, 2021

Today, Red Deer RCMP issued a news release about a criminal investigation involving a large-scale fraudulent operation that involves the creation and selling of counterfeit safety certificates. Energy Safety Canada’s H2S-Alive® course and the Canadian Red Cross’s First Aid/CPR courses are the major certification organizations that have been impacted. The scope of the operation is still under investigation and it is believed that while the majority of fraudulent activity took place in Alberta, it did extend to other Provinces.

Falsifying safety certificates is a significant concern for Energy Safety Canada and we are pleased that this step has been taken by the Red Deer RCMP.
