Dangerous Tree Control Guideline | A Program Development Guide

This program development guideline is applicable to any upstream oil and gas work site where there are free-standing trees at the boundaries of the work site. The objective is to increase worker, employer, prime contractor and facility owner awareness of the hazards, legislated requirements and industry work standards associated with dangerous trees.

  • Falling Plan Checklist
The purpose of the Danger Tree Control Guideline is to be a guideline to all levels of management to ensure the safety of petroleum industry workers engaged in activities near dangerous trees. This guideline is applicable to any upstream oil and gas worksite where there are free-standing trees at the boundaries of the worksite. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Camp sites
  • Facilities
  • Pipelines
  • Roads
  • Line of sight/seismic lines
  • Aircraft landing zones
  • Well sites
