Our industry shares a common goal: zero injuries, zero incidents. To make that happen we must engage in discussion and collaboration; exchange ideas and best practices; and empower people at every level—from the frontline worker to the boardroom—to lead safety.
Since 1951, the Petroleum Safety Conference (PSC) has connected health and safety experts and influencers, safety supervisors, and companies to the latest in health and safety knowledge, products and services. Sharing knowledge. Learning from each other’s experiences and strengths. Pursuing new ideas in safety. That is what the annual PSC is about.
Because safety doesn’t clock in and it doesn’t punch out. It’s 24/7.

Our first keynote presenter for this session is going to be focusing on a whole new concept of understanding issues that are impacting worker wellness and mental wellbeing and what factors can impact on the health and safety of workers. Amanda Hudye, Founder and President of Sleepwell Consulting Inc. and will be speaking on these issues. Sleepwell Consulting provides customized workplace solutions that lead to increased performance, productivity and safety. If there is no priority put on the quality and quantity of our sleep, the more challenging it is to have a good state of psychological wellness. Her presentation is designed to give you practical tools and strategies to help make sleep easier and more restorative which will lead to an overall higher quality of life.
Our second keynote speaker is Jack Hardy, Manager of Prevention Services with WCB Saskatchewan. He will be joining us to present on the new Mental Health Initiatives and how SK WCB claims are dealt with for psychological injury such as a PTSD , which often arise after traumatic events, which is quite evident when we can relate to the recent events which this province has just experienced.
Both of these presenters will shed some new light on how to address these issues and what tools can be used to mitigate them as well as the steps in seeking appropriate treatment if required.
In addition, Energy Safety Canada will be providing industry Health and Safety updates, news on 2018 new initiatives and providing information on targeted activities.

Noise is one of the most common occupational health hazards, and leads to health effects including permanent hearing loss. The rate of noise induced hearing loss (NIHL) in the oil and gas industry is alarmingly high. As safety practitioners, we have a lot to keep track of and think about, but noise induced hearing loss is preventable. So let’s prevent it.

In recognition of Small Business Week (Oct 15-21), Enform is hosting a seminar designed for small employers in the oil and gas industry. If you run a small business, it is essential to focus on the prevention of injuries in your workplace, as even one recordable can cause your injury rate to go well above the acceptable industry average. We will discuss the top types of injuries in our industry and the numerous resources available to help you prevent them.
In addition, guest speaker Jody LaPlaca with Dynamic Services & Consulting Ltd will provide insight into how the major safety registries work and how to best navigate through their requirements. She will also clarify what a "recordable" injury is, explain how TRIF's are calculated, and suggest some possible remedial actions that may help keep your registry status favorable.
If you're a small business owner with clients in the oil and gas industry, you don't want to miss this workshop!

Every year Saskatchewan’s Premier Safety event brings together hundreds of safety professionals from across Saskatchewan who gather to learn from 24 educational presentations and keynote speakers plus see the latest safety-related products and services in over 100 trade show display booths.
Industry has known for many years that safety doesn’t cost - it pays. The 1st Annual Industrial Safety Seminar was held in 1974. Started by a group of concerned individuals, the aim of the conference was to give safety professionals in Saskatchewan a forum to discuss areas of common concern. It was an opportunity to bring a high quality safety event to the province. Since 1974, the event has grown to become one of the largest events of its type in western Canada. The 44th Annual Industrial Safety Seminar will feature speakers from Saskatchewan, Canada, and the United States. It will also feature one of the largest displays of safety equipment and services in western Canada with 100 display booths.

Co-hosted by Enform, this interactive session is for oil and gas sector employers. It engages participants in conversations and activities that build practical understanding of what a safety culture is, how it drives safety performance, and what they can do to make positive contributions to a stronger, safer culture in their workplace.
Focusing on road safety, workshop materials explain what a safety culture is by describing the structural components and how those parts fit and function together. The presentation explains the value of a strong safety culture by showing the relationships between safety culture and safety results. Participants learn how all employees can be involved in building a stronger safety “fabric”. During hands-on group and individual activities, participants explore how they can apply those ideas in their organization.
Who Should Attend
The workshop is for business owners, managers, supervisors, health and safety practitioners, safety committee members and others who have responsibility for making decisions and developing programs to keep employees safe on BC roads.
Space is limited to 24 participants so reserve your seat for this ½-day workshop.
Lunch and Learn
Offered right after the workshop and in cooperation with Enform and Kal Tire, this information-packed hour provides the latest on winter tires and winter driving safety so you and your employees that drive for work are ready for the season ahead.

Safety Stand Down is a designated time for CEOs, executives and senior managers to talk about safety issues directly with frontline supervisors and workers. It can take place any time of year, at whatever location you choose and does not mean you have to shut down your operations.
Enform has created a number of resources that companies can use when holding a Safety Stand Down session. These resources have been developed around this year's focus, which is to encourage discussion about the top three causes of injuries in the upstream oil and gas industry: Being Struck by an Object, Overexertion and Slips, Trips and Falls.
Join Robert Waterhouse for an in-depth look at Enform's Safety Stand Down resources, learn about possible customized reports that provide company-specific injury and illness data, and to obtain some tips on how to make your next (or first!) Safety Stand Down event productive and powerful.

Participants learn about the human and financial costs of motor vehicle incidents, and apply hazard identification and risk assessment procedures to prioritize road safety issues. They will use "Road Safety At Work" tools and resources to develop action plans aimed at preventing workplace and vehicle crashes.
Space is limited to 20 participants so reserve your seat for this 1/2 day workshop now. We will canvass registered participants before the session and use their suggestions to "customize" the workshop to focus on driving circumstances and road safety challenges that drivers in oil and gas sector workplaces encounter.
Who Should Attend
The workshop is for owners, managers, supervisors, health and safety practitioners, joint occupational health and safety committee members and others who have responsibility for making decisions and developing programs to keep employees safe on B.C. roads.
You are encouraged to send one or two representatives from your organization. To help you develop and improve your road safety program, we will provide each organization with three hours of follow-up consultation with one of our road safety specialists.

Join Enform for breakfast on November 17th, 2015 for an introduction to this year's Safety Stand Down. Safety Stand Down 2016 focuses on "Keeping U Out of Injuries" and addresses the top three most common injuries workers encounter in the upstream oil and gas industry. These injuries have been determined using data from the Workers' Compensation Boards of British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. This year's Safety Stand Down resources provide information for industry to have a dialogue on preventing these injuries.
Safety Stand Down has been running for over a decade, and demonstrates industry's commitment to engaging both senior executives and the frontline workers in a discussion to prevent injuries and illnesses. This breakfast will prepare you to host your own Safety Stand Down, and will give you a better understanding of Enform's ability to use WCB to benefit your business.

Biogenic vs Petrogenic Sources, Environmental Consequences and Regulatory Guidelines
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are ubiquitous contaminants in the environment. They are present in the air we breathe and the food we eat. PAHs are derived in natural processes, diagenic processes and largely from combustion processes. Their prevalence in the environment makes their understanding important for all environmental practitioners. PAHs are present in low percentage amounts in crude oil, making them important for those working in the oil industry as well.
This course will provide comprehensive coverage of many aspects of PAHs from fundamentals to advanced knowledge and usage of PAH data. The course will include structures and nomenclature, physical-chemical properties, analytical measurements, toxicity and risks, regulatory guidance, remediation and environmental forensics. The course is designed for all environmental practitioners including natural sciences and engineering professionals.
