Join Energy Safety Canada and guest speaker Chad Secondiak for a free, educational Lunch and Learn designed to help employers and supervisors better understand the management of substance abuse in the workplace. This session is intended  for education and awareness. In this session, you will learn: 

  • Advice and discussion around policies
  • Testing options: Lab vs. POCT, Urine vs. Oral Fluid
  • Challenges employers face with THC
  • Signs and symptoms recognition
  • Real-world applications and education on substance abuse in the workplace
  • The RAID process (Recognize, Assess, Investigate, Decide) — a practical technique for identifying substance abuse in the workplace
  • An overview of the Canadian Model for Providing a Safe Workplace, including a look ahead at updates expected later in 2026 (Q4)

About the Speaker

Chad Secondiak, CPCT, CSS. President, ECS Safety Services. Chad brings 28 years of experience in the field of substance abuse and occupational health services. Chad is a Certified Professional Collection Trainer for specimen collections and a Master Instructor for two brands of alcohol testing devices. He has developed and helped implement substance abuse prevention policies for all industries across Canada including Government agencies, non-profit organizations, airlines and manufacturing plants. Along with his extensive work on policies and his current duties as President, Chad has travelled throughout Alberta and other provinces providing training sessions for major oil producers.
