Introduction to Health and Safety Committees and Representatives (IHSCR)

This course is designed to inform workers and employers of the amended Alberta Occupational Health and Safety legislation regarding Health and Safety Committees (HSCs) and Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs). It provides an overview of the basis of Alberta’s Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation, when and how to form an HSC, committee functions, member duties, co-chair duties, employer duties, and member training. It also addresses when HSRs are required, as well as their duties and functions. It provides several free resources with workable templates and tools to set up and run an effective HSC. This online course can be completed in approximately two hours. IHSCR is equivalent to health and safety committees and representatives “Part 1 courses” offered through other Government of Alberta-approved training providers.

Upon successful completion of this course a Certificate of Completion is available to print. There is no recertification requirement for this course.
