When a crisis hits, people are relying on you to keep your head – and knowing who to call could mean the difference between life and death.

If only it were as simple as remembering those three magic numbers: 9-1-1!

First responders

While 911 works for most emergencies, in most parts of Alberta, BC and Saskatchewan, there are locations and situations where it just won’t do the trick. Here are some of the most  common numbers to keep handy, just in case:

For any emergency in remote areas of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Eastern BC, with telephone
or cellphone service: 1-888-888-4567

Air ambulance in BC: 1-800-461-9911

To report problem or injured wildlife: 1-800-642-3800 in Alberta: 1-877-952-7277 in BC

Safety in remote areas

Whenever you head out into a remote area, for work or play, always make sure you go properly prepared. Take adequate supplies of food and water and appropriate clothing; tell someone where you’re going and know what number to call if you find yourself in an emergency.
